A reminder to everyone that there should be no expectation of privacy when using company equipment. This includes e-mail, phone calls, the internet, etc… Recently the company pulled sent e-mails department wide in one of our departments and read through them. The rule of thumb for e-mail is to treat it like a postcard, anyone can read it. Beyond that, please be aware that the company does have the ability to monitor and does monitor its equipment at times, so please be aware of this if you are disclosing personal or private information through any of these mediums.
As well, please remember that you have the right to union representation if you are called into a meeting and you believe it could lead to discipline. These rights are called your Weingarten Rights. It is up to the individual to ask for union representation. The company is not obligated to ask if you want union representation. You can stop a meeting at any point you perceive that discipline could be involved, so please take advantage of this right if you feel uncomfortable in this regard.
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the Guild office at 772-1202 or union@local128.org.
