Notification of Layoffs

On February 19, 2010 the Guild received a contractual 30 day notice of impending layoffs.  The company has agreed to offer voluntary separations prior to making any involuntary cuts.  Employees should be receiving their packets of information from HR.  We won't know the impact of the layoffs until the voluntary separation is complete.  The deadline to withdraw your expression of interest is 5 pm on March 12.  The Guild plans to meet with the company following that deadline.  We will be scheduling meetings with Peter Kellman, a rapid response coordinator from the Maine State AFL-CIO to review unemployment and Cobra benefits with those employees affected.  We will be sharing additional information as it becomes available.  In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the local leadership.  Tom Bell, President 791-6369- Greg Kesich, Vice President 791-6480- Kathy Munroe, Admin Officer 772-1202.
