Negotiations Stall, Arbitration Settlement Talks Near

The negotiations process has ground to a standstill as the Guild and company begin a legal wrestling match over pay for Guild bargaining team members to participate in negotiations. The Guild is in the process of filing an Unfair Labor Practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board against the company for unilaterally declaring it would cease paying Guild negotiating team members as of August 1 and failing to bargain over the issue. TNG Legal Services has accepted and will pay for the legal costs of this case.

In other news, the Guild and company have agreed to use this Thursday’s arbitration date to participate in settlement talks on outstanding arbitration cases. The Guild continues to look into ramifications from the recent layoffs and several areas of disagreement have arisen. The news department collected over $900 to help out a member who was laid off and thank her for her nearly 40 years of service to the company.
