Selects and edits national and international content from the various wire services. CORE

We present as complete and interesting a national/foreign wire report as possible.

Evaluates national and international events for newsworthiness and advises on appropriate play. CORE

We provide important national/foreign content that is of interest to our readers.

Serves as liaison with various news services to get the best possible coverage of national and international news. CORE

Wire services are responsive to our needs.

Maintains national/foreign content budget and present it to the editors. CORE

Senior editors are kept well informed on important national/foreign news events of the day.

Assists copy desk with readback and proofing duties. CORE

Content is free of errors and accurate.

Uses available technology to support efforts as needed. SUPPORTING

Possesses adequate knowledge of all pertinent software/systems necessary to perform duties efficiently.

Other related duties as assigned. SUPPORTING

Additional duties performed in time in a satisfactory manner.

Required Education and/or Experience/Knowledge: College degree in journalism or a related field is required plus significant professional experience. Five years as a copy editor at a daily newspaper and pagination experience is preferred.

Requires Skills: Strong news judgments; solid editing skills; knowledge of government and national/world affairs and history. Possesses an understanding of and appreciation for the demands of ethical decision-making.
