Janitor and Building Utility Person

Performs maintenance, recycling, and cleaning responsibilities, and level 1 material handling. CORE

• All tasks are completed fully, on time, and safely.
• Any uncompleted assignment is communicated to your supervisor on duty or via voicemail with an explanation.
• Communication is professional and courteous with all customers
• Clears designated areas of snow and ice to create safe conditions
• Hazardous waste removal (i.e. bloodborne pathogens, etc. ) is performed according to safety protocol.

Completes maintenance projects as needed. CORE

• Completes work in time element designated.
• Follows all safety procedures during work and cleans up after project is complete.

Utilizes clamp truck to unload newsprint from trucks, move newsprint to storage and lay down rolls for use by pressroom personnel. (Duty may not apply to all in this classification.) CORE

• Newsprint is handled safely, efficiently and with no damage.
• Maintains clamp truck certification.

Other related duties as assigned. SUPPORTING

Additional duties are performed in an accurate and timely manner.

Required Education and/or Experience/Knowledge: Customer Service skills and the ability to recognize projects and complete these projects without being told. Previous related experience preferred but not required. Valid driver’s license preferred. Clamp truck license required of those handling newsprint.

Requires Skills: Must be able to lift fifty pounds, be able to use various types of mechanical equipment (i.e. snow removal equipment, various mechanical and electric hand tools, pallet jack, clamp truck, etc), to climb ladders and work around heights, and have a basic knowledge of general maintenance and cleaning.
