Unapproved overtime
The Guild is investigating a situation where a member was disciplined for working “unapproved overtime.”
UPDATE: The Guild grievance committee has voted to move this matter to arbitration and offered three names of arbitrators to the company, per the contract.
Circulation managers doing Guild work
The Guild is investigating issues of managers doing data entry work and other Guild jurisdictional work.
UPDATE: An arbitration date is set for January 25, 2008 for one matter. The other matter is still being scheduled. TNG-CWA has agreed to pick up the costs of the cases.
Pay for new photo imager position
The Guild is looking into the slotting of the wage scale for the new photo imager position.
UPDATE: An arbitration date is set for January 16, 2008. TNG-CWA has agreed to pick up the costs of this arbitration. Although the photo imager position was eliminated during layoffs an issue of back pay still remains.
Implementation of time clocks in South Portland
The Guild has grieved the implementation of time clocks in South Portland. This is a change in working conditions.
UPDATE: An arbitration date is set for December 4, 2007. TNG-CWA has agreed to pick up the costs of this arbitration.
Circulation work being done by exempt employees and outside contractors
The Guild has grieved the use of exempt employees and outside contractors to process and distribute newspapers.
UPDATE: An arbitration date is set for January 8, 2008.

Free riders
The Guild has filed a grievance related to the company’s refusal to abide by Article I, Section I of the contract in regard to employees failing to meet their minimum legal financial requirements to the Guild.
UPDATE: An arbitration date is set for October 31, 2007. TNG-CWA has agreed to pick up the costs of this arbitration.
