ARTICLE XX Jury Duty

Any full-time or part-time employee who is scheduled to work on days on which he/she is required to be absent from employment to serve on jury duty shall be paid for his/her scheduled straight-time hours lost minus any pay received as such jury member. A temporary employee called for jury duty shall seek to be excused from serving by explaining in writing to the court to which he/she has been called to serve that he/she is a temporary employee working for a definitive time frame on tasks that must be completed within a specified time frame. If such request is denied and the temporary employee is required to serve on jury duty, then the temporary employee who is scheduled to work on days on which he/she is required to be absent from employment to serve on jury duty shall be paid for his/her scheduled straight-time hours lost minus any pay received as a jury member.

When a full-time, part-time or temporary employee serving as a juror is excused or released from jury duty on any day, he/she shall call his/her supervisor and notify the supervisor of his/her availability for work. If the supervisor requests the employee to report for work, he/she shall do so. If for any reason the employee is unable to reach his/her supervisor, he/she shall report for work and his/her supervisor may excuse the employee from work with pay as provided above or require the employee to work all or the remainder of his/her scheduled shift.
