1. The vacation year shall begin on January 1.
2. A full-time employee hired prior to June 26, will, upon completion of six (6) months employment, be entitled to five (5) days vacation with pay to be taken prior to December 31. A full-time employee hired on or after June 26 will, upon completion of six (6) months of employment, be entitled to no less than five (5) days vacation with pay to be taken in the next calendar year.
3. Full-time regular employees who work the entire year prior to January 1 of the vacation year will be entitled to vacation with pay during the vacation year as follows:
a. Full-time employees who have not completed one (1) year of full-time service on January 1 shall be entitled to one (1) day of vacation with pay during the vacation year for each twenty-four (24) days worked during the previous year.
b. Full-time employees who have completed one (1) year of full-time service, but less than four (4) years service prior to January 1, shall be entitled to two (2) weeks vacation with pay.
c. Full-time employees who have completed four (4) years, but less than ten (10) years of full-time service prior to January 1, shall be entitled to three (3) weeks vacation with pay.
d. Full-time employees who have completed ten (10) years of full-time service, but less than twenty (20) years of full-time service as of January 1 shall be entitled to four (4) weeks of vacation with pay.
e. Full-time employees who have completed twenty (20) years of full-time service prior to January 1 shall be entitled to five (5) weeks of vacation with pay.
4. Regular part-time employees who have not been continuously employed or who have not worked an average of fifty percent (50%) or more of the regular work week during the entire calendar year prior to January 1 of the vacation year shall be entitled to the equivalent of one (1) day of vacation pay (7.5 hours at straight time pay) for each twenty-four (24) days (180 paid straight time hours) worked during such year.
Regular part-time employees who have been continuously employed and have worked an average of fifty percent (50%) or more of the regular work week during the entire calendar year prior to January 1 of the vacation year shall be entitled to receive pro-rata vacation credits on the same basis as set forth for full-time employees in Sections 2 and 3 above. The pro-rata amount shall be determined by applying the percentage resulting from dividing the number of hours worked during such prior calendar year by the total regular hours (1950) in such prior calendar year.
Example: 1) 1170 hours worked divided by 1950 = 60% 2) 60% x 75 hours = 45 hours paid vacation.
5. An employee shall not be required to accept the first two weeks of vacation at any time except between May 1 and September 30. An employee entitled to three (3), four (4), or five (5) weeks of vacation may take such third, fourth and fifth weeks consecutively, provided the time vacations are to be taken are mutually agreeable to the employee and the department head. Vacation accrued during the vacation year, together with any unused vacation pay accrued during the previous calendar year, shall be included in the final payment of wages upon termination or in the event of the death of the employee while employed. All such accrued or unused vacation pay shall be paid to the estate of such employee.
6. Employees shall be given preference in choosing periods of vacation in order of seniority of service with the Employer. Vacation schedules shall be posted during the period between April 1 and May 1 of the vacation year. The department head will determine the number of vacations that can be scheduled during any workweek.
7.If a holiday occurs during a vacation, the employee shall be given an additional day off with pay.
8. Carryover of earned vacation days to the following year is only permitted when caused by extraordinary work-related circumstances and must be approved in advance by the Employer.
New Employees:
9. Employees hired after May 14, 2008 will be eligible to earn and take a pro-rated share of two (2) weeks vacation based on their hire date.
10. On January 1st of each subsequent year employees are eligible to earn and take two (2) weeks vacation.
11. When employees have been with the company:
4 continuous years, the following January they will receive three (3) weeks; 10 continuous year, the following January they will receive four (4) weeks; 20 continuous years, the following January they will receive five (5) weeks.
12. Employees covered under this policy begin to accrue (accumulate) vacation immediately upon their hire date for the current year, and again each January 1. Vacation time must be approved in advance by the manager and can be taken in advance of earning it. However, if an employee terminates and has taken more vacation than he/she has earned that year, the employer will be reimbursed by the employee upon termination. In addition, any remaining earned, but unused vacation will be paid out in his/her final check.
