5.1 A full-time employee hired prior to June 26 in any calendar year shall, upon completion of six (6) months employment, be entitled to five (5) days vacation with pay to be taken prior to December 31. A full-time employee hired June 26 or after shall upon completion of six (6) months of employment, be entitled to no less than five (5) days vacation with pay to be taken in the next calendar year. Part-time employees will be entitled to prorated vacation in accordance with section 5.10 below.
5.2 Employees with continuous full-time employment with the Employer for the entire twelve (12) consecutive months prior to January 1 of each year shall be entitled to two (2) weeks vacation with ten (10) days pay at the straight time rate.
5.3 Employees with continuous full-time employment with the Employer for four (4) consecutive years prior to January 1 of each year shall be entitled to three weeks of fifteen (1 5) days at straight-time rate.
5.4 Employees with continuous full-time employment with the Employer for ten (10) consecutive years prior to January 1 of each year shall be entitled to four weeks vacation with twenty (20) days at straight-time rate.
5.5 Employees with continuous full-time employment with the Employer for twenty
(20) consecutive years prior to January 1 of each year shall be entitled to five weeks vacation with twenty-five (25) days at straight-time rate.
5.6 Vacation credits earned in one calendar year will be taken in the following calendar year.
5.7 No employee will be allowed to forego vacation in any vacation year for the purpose of adding to the length of vacation in any succeeding year.
5.8 Rate of pay for vacation period shall be at the day or night scale, depending upon which shift the employee works. If an employee works a combination of day and night shifts, the vacation rate shall be paid according to the combination schedule.
5.9 Vacation credits earned are payable on termination of employment, or in the event of death in which case the credits due will be paid to such deceased employee's spouse or beneficiary. The following is the method of determining credits earned:
(a) One year but less than four years continuous employment, 1 day for each 25 days worked.
(b) Four years but less than ten years continuous employment, 1 day for each 17 days worked.
(c) Ten years but less than twenty years continuous employment, 1 day for each 12 days worked.
(d) Twenty or more years continuous employment, 1 day for each 9 days worked.
5.10 Regular part-time employees who have been continuously employed or who have worked an average of fifty percent (50%) or more of the regular workweek during the entire calendar year prior to January 1 of the vacation year shall be entitled to receive pro-rata vacation credits on the same basis as set forth for full-time employees in all sections noted above.
5.11 All employees shall be entitled to take the first two (2) weeks of vacation between May 1 and November 1, provided that employees may have the choice of vacation in accordance with their priority. While the supervisor may limit the number of employees who may be off from each work group of the prepress department throughout this time period, no week will be eliminated from vacation selection during the first two (2) weeks of vacation selection process.
5.12 It is agreed that the third, fourth, and fifth week of vacation for each employee who may be entitled to it shall be given:
(a) At the supervisor's option and at a time of year which will not interfere with production and which need not be consecutive with other vacation time.
(b) At a time when it is reasonably certain that overtime will not be required as a result of such vacations.
(c) Not necessarily in accordance with priority standing.
5.13 Employees shall receive vacation pay in advance at the end of the financial weeks immediately prior to their vacation period if requested.
5.14 A vacation period may begin with a slide or off day that will give the employee the maximum number of consecutive days or nights before being scheduled to return to work.
