Announcement from the Guild

There will be a general membership meeting in Room 24 in the basement of City Hall next Tuesday, Aug. 4, to discuss some important news and hold a vote.

There will also be a meeting in South Portland next week, but it has yet to be scheduled.

The Guild’s Executive Board has nominated Guild vice president Greg Kesich and the Guild's business consultant Chris Mackin to represent the Guild on the Board of Directors of MaineToday Media Inc.

Members will vote at the meetings on whether to accept or reject the nominations. Kesich and Mackin will address members.

Also, working with management and the leaders of other unions in the company, a new labor-management committee has been established, to be called the Improvement Committee. The committee will meet monthly and serve as a vehicle for bringing ideas from members to management and also a forum for discussions between departments and unions. The Guild urged the creation of this committee during negotiations, and it is part of our new contract.

Guild President Tom Bell will serve as the committee's co-chair. The other Guild members on the committee are Carl Natale, Steve Pepin, Erick Druck and Liz Clancy
